In March, I'll be going to Haiti to work on a project with the Haiti Hospital.

We'll be starting the day at 6am and working on a building project during the day (my bricklaying skills could be interesting), followed by working with young adults with spinal injuries and children with disabilities.

The Hospital is a charity that has no state support and relies on volunteers to work on building and maintenance projects. It has a specialist unit for young adults, mostly young men the same age as my sons, who have spinal injuries from accidents or from the 2010 earthquake. It also has a hospice for children with disabilities, who need round the clock care. Recently, it has also had to act as a hospital for a wider range of medical needs, as the government hospitals have not been functioning.

Previous building projects have included building a shower block for the hospital and a shelter with kitchen facilities for relatives travelling far and wide to see their children.

I am aiming to fund as much as I can myself through fundraising events and saving my own pennies. However, I would really appreciate any donations, however small, any of you can make to help support me getting there.
