Hi I'm Niki I'm wheelchair bound I have a incureable neurological condition named Charcot Marie Tooth Disease which wastes muscles and can destroy your nerves, both my ankles and feet are now fully paralysed because the nerves have died and my fine motor skills in my hands are giving up the fight as well. I am in constant 24/7 muscle and nerve pain. I find it extremely hard lifting or moving things and I get extreme fatigue so easily. I live with 2 amazing young children 11 & 10 who do everything for me and I really wish I could do more things for them but at the moment I'm unable to with how our home is. My daughter also suffers from the same condition it causes her pain, fatigue, mobility problems. So the work that needs doing to the bungalow will not only benefit myself but will also greatly improve her way of life as my daughters condition is worsening with time. Our kitchen urgently needs adapting so the units can be lowered , the kitchen sink is lowered and there's a space underneath for my wheelchair. A electric hob needs to be put on a lowered unit with a space underneath and room either side so I can reach and move around. Built in ovens and a microwave at wheelchair sitting height needs to be fitted with pull out sliding tray so I can put the trays straight onto them with ease and no heavy lifting. I have asked and begged the housing, council's for help, adaptions, grants but all they will do is put a lowered sink in. They say I have to do it myself. They won't even help with putting a ramp outside my patio doors and flagging the garden, my wheelchair can't get out the back door or onto the grass it gets stuck in the mud. If anyone can help us even a £1 would be amazing it would go a long way in helping to change our lives and helping me to become more independent and being able to look after my kids instead of them looking after me and doing everything for me because I can't access our kitchen.
