    Story

Hi, I'm Nick. I'm 14 and as part of my Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award, I decided to volunteer at Grappenhall Community Library. I felt that for the physical challenge part of the award, it was only fitting I raise money for the library, which plays such an important part of local Grappenhall life. To do this, I am running, walking, cycling and swimming 100km in 10 weeks. All the money raised will go to buy new arts and craft equipment for library users, old and young.

I’ve done it! After my final challenge walking up Snowdon I have completed my 100kms in 10 weeks! The walk up the mountain was amazing with wonderful views. Thank you to everyone who came with me and thank you to EVERYONE who has supported me!!!!! You have helped raise enough money to keep Grappenhall Library stocked with craft equipment for TWO YEARS!!! Now can I have a rest please?????...........

My penultimate challenge this week was a walk along the Llyn Peninsula Coastal Path to Abersoch. It was beautiful weather and stunning views! It ended in a well deserved (in my case) Pepsi and ice cream and (in mum and dad’s case) beer! Next and final stop - Mount Snowdon......

This week’s challenge took me to Norton Water Tower near Runcorn. We followed the Bridgewater Canal as far as Moore, enjoying watching the new cygnets and ducklings! The ride amounted to another 20kms! Just two more challenges to go!

Good luck with your Duke of Edinburgh Nick and well done on completing the challenges so far. I think next time your mum might prefer a sponsored knitathon or something less energetic ;-)
