    Story

One summer evening my wife and I found two little baby hedgehogs wandering around our garden one hot afternoon, we put out some cat food and water which they gobbled up, we knew this was not normal hog behaviour and realised something was up. I contacted Yvonne Cox who runs Hedgehog Rescue Yate who said bring them in; we arrived at Yvonne's house and went through into the hedgehog treatment facility (a large shed full of cages, food, treatments, blankets, towels and other assorted hedgehog caring necessities.
Yvonne assessed each hog and told us that they had been abandoned and gone in search of food and drink and would have struggled to survive.. They were underweight and infested with blowfly lavae which could have ultimately killed them. We named them Horace & Gertrude, approximately 8 weeks later we went to Hedgehog Rescue to collect Horace & Gertrude to release back into our garden. As they were overflowing with hedgehogs we took another two making four to our garden and fed and watered them until they went out into the big wide world. Since then we have taken other hedgehogs needing help to Yvonne.
Hedgehog Rescue Yate is funded solely by donations and fundraising, the facilities, equipment, water, heating, food and medicine do not come cheap. Wild animals need all the help they can get and this is exactly what Hedgehog Rescue does it helps hogs back to health and to the wild.

Please help me to help them.

Well we did it, the weather was kind bit of rain at the end of the day, 5 others rode with us which was nice from CycleBristolCTC. We both slept very well after a good bath and some food. Many thanks to all of the people who have supported us support Hedgehog Rescue Yate
