Weʼve raised £150 to help fund Carter a corrective helmet

    Halifax, United Kingdom
Funded on Monday, 3rd April 2017

Don't have time to donate right now?

    Story

I took my son Carter for his 6 week newborn review, where I was informed that Carter had a flat head to the right hand side, the DR then wanted to check up on Carter 6 weeks later the DR was not happy with how the shape of his head was forming he then referred me to a paediatrician. On the 27th February 2017 myself and Carter attended the appointment where I was informed Carter had Plagiocephaly and would benefit from a corrective helmet, however the paediatrician said the NHS do not fund these (the helmets are available from the stepper clinic in Leeds for £1950)
As a single mum to two I unfortunately do not have the funds to pay for this treatment, therefore I am beginning to do some fundraising so Carter can have the treatment required to make sure his head develops how it should.

A little more bit about a corrective helmet...
1)A corrective helmet is a type of medical device. It is custom-made to treat Plagiocephaly in children with a non symmetric skull. The helmet is designed to reshape the skull over time.
2)A doctor will ask that the baby wear the helmet 23 hours each day. It can be taken off for bathing and cleaning.

A Fundraising day will also be held by Carter's Auntie at her work place on Wednesday 29th March 2017.

A sponsored walk will be taking place on Monday 10th April leaving Holywell Green with an aim to arrive in Liverpool for Wednesday 12th April.
