Helen Todd and Myself, Kim Leighton were both expecting babies in 2017 and both had complications with our labours - Helen was at Derby Royal hospital and started haemorrhaging and ended up having to be put in an induced coma and Kim, had a placenta abruption resulting in her baby being born 9 weeks prematurely, at Kingsmill hospital.
Both babies ended up being cared for by the relevant hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU). The care and dedication we received from all involved staff was second to none. The Neonatal Intensive Care Units in the UK, care for around 95,000 babies every year. This is 1 in 8 babies born!
Both babies - Albie and Dylan have recovered well and have grown up to be fantastic, happy and healthy little boys.
We are running a family fun day to raise as much money as we can for Kingsmill and Derby Royal NICU units to give back what we can for the incredible care they gave us and ultimately to say thank you for saving our babies lives.
