Hello, my name is Nikita, and I am a lecturer at a UK university. In March 2019 I was hospitalized with acute pancreatitis. A month later I developed complications and was put into a medically induced coma for 10 weeks. When I woke up, my body wasn’t working because of a severe muscle loss. I’m better now but still can’t walk or feed myself.

After 16 months in hospitals I was discharged. After conducting a telephone interview with me, our Occupational Health reported me as “unfit for work”. I am still on sick leave and haven’t received any salary since March 2020.
