I want to invest my life in Marine Conservation and I believe the first step in doing so is to volunteer with a great organisation such as Ekosini or Wallacea; to throw myself into the field and learn as much as I can and as quickly as possible.

Many people already know this but I never tire of saying it; if the Ocean dies, we die. It deserves our respect, time and care. Researchers around the World are constantly advising people of the bad state the Ocean is in but it is not hard for anyone to see this. Anyone who snorkels can see first hand that the sea is infested with plastic, coral is bleached and life is minimal.

Our children and future generations deserve to lead the comfortable lives we lead today and for this to be possible, we all need to change our small daily choices. Organisations like the ones previously mentioned provide education and awareness campaigns, monitor and clean marine sites, tag and monitor local species, and provide volunteers with Marine Guiding and First Aid courses that will help each volunteer throughout their future.

Awareness and education is the only way forward. Most people do not know that little daily choices could change everything; if we all participated. Also, I want to show how beautiful the Ocean is; when people see a beautiful thing, they want to protect it.

I will be running the 2017 Vodafone half marathon on the 5th of March in order to raise funds for this cause.

All the money raised through this fund will be spent in volunteering and investing in education, which in turn, hopefully, will lead to myself working in the Marine Conservation field permanently.
