Story
Hi, thank you for taking the time to read Jaime's story.
If you know Jaime, you will understand that the last 7 years of her life have been very difficult, in and out of hospital, with many admissions by ambulance, increasing over the years. She has had numerous misdiagnoses. Her firm known diagnoses are Gastroparesis, Atonic Bowel, Osteoporosis (due to poor vitamin absorption) and dissociative collapses (linked with pain). She suffers with chronic pain, vomiting, dehydration and chronic constipation.
Earlier this year Jaime was given some hope from a surgeon who has used a sacral nerve stimulator to help young women with similar symptoms, and they have had good results. The stimulator costs £30,000 and had to go to a funding panel, who refused the funding on the basis it is not guaranteed to work. Jaime was distraught and felt that no one could help her. She can be admitted to hospital 20 times in one year - often admitted by ambulance - This must cost the NHS far more in a single year.
After some research we found a private consultant, who is keen to trial. the stimulator for Jaime and hopeful that it will give her some relief and a more normal lifestyle, reducing hospital admissions. If the trial is successful, he can write a 'compelling' letter to the NHS on Jaime's behalf and if it isn't successful at least we've tried!
Thank you again for taking the time to read Jaime's story.
Much love
xx

7 years agoI have closed this page as we have raised all the money to pay for the trial, absolutely amazing, thank you all so much. Jaime's trial is going great!! So much better than anyone could ever have hoped for. This is so exciting, next move is to convince NHS to put the permanent stimulator in. Her private consultant has said he will write a compelling letter on her behalf so everyone keep everything crossed for her!! THANK YOU ALL FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS <3 <3 <3 xxxx
