In a year and a halfs time me and a team of students are travelling to Ecuador to build schools , nurture the environment and teach children .Simply put, I am just trying to make a small difference to someone else’s world. In 21st century Britain, I think that we sometimes fail to put life into perspective; I hope that the trip helps me build a stronger perspective on our planet. Seeing how other people live and the problems they face will definitely highlight to me how fortunate I am; in a position of fortune I feel the need to help. Challenge is a great thing to have in your life, it helps you improve and nurtures your competitive spirit; this challenge will be my biggest and hardest yet. As a team, we are lucky to have so many diverse and different characters, my experience will undoubtedly be enhanced by this. As a young person, I rely on others for things in life as they support me with their skills and strengths. The expedition will build upon my own skills and strengths as well as my weakness. The key skills I would like to develop from this journey are self-motivation, teamwork and responsibility. Helping one person might not change the world, but helping one person might change one person’s world.

During my journey I get to be involved in loads of exiting projects.One of the things I am looking forward to the most is heping develop the Kuri Kuchos school kitchen. This will require us to build decorate and clean a local schools kitchen , this will go a long way into improving hygeine levels whithin the community. As Ecuador is near the Amazon rainforest i will also be helping out there. The Amazon is in danger , hopefully our ethnobotancial gardening and cleaning of the environment can work towards nurture the worlds largest eco-system. But most of all , i am greatly looking forward to teaching local children English . This oppurtunity will be amazing , and having come from a family of teachers , is something i can not wait to do . Along with these projects we will also be building , helping , leading, working , educating and helping to try and make the biggest impact on the local peoples lives.

Overall I have to raise £4000 for the journey. Recently i helped organised a evening with the military wives choir at our school , which was a huge success. We have loads of future events that aim to bring the community together and raise money. Fetes , halloween discos , ceilidhs, car washing , bingo nights,treks and quizes are all plans we have for future events. Throughout my journey i have relied on the generosity of people i do not know , and have been amazed by how people are willing to help. The fundraising on this website is to help to push me towards my target of £4000 .
