The topic of ill mental health is greatly avoided and misunderstood. As a civilisation we are in constant fear of what we do not understand and history has shown us time and time again that fear breeds prejudice and ignorance. If we are only provided with tainted information on any topic, one could argue that a negative response is only inevitabl. If more sensitive, detailed and accurate information on a subject is made available, then we can begin to recognise and understand.
Mental Health is a taboo subject that carries huge stigma. I want to try to put a stop to this but cannot do it alone.
My website www.adiaryfromnoone.co.uk hosts both poetry and blogs about ill mental health in general and honest accounts of my own personal struggles of living with Borderline Personality Disorder (type impulsive) and the range of symptoms that I endure on a daily basis. Information provides knowledge, I speak out loud and proud about the vast spectrum of mental health, in order to educate, diminish the shame and make people feel less confused and alone.
No One's Lounge will feature conversation about mental health in detail, with different panel guests each episode. There will always be a creative guest act that will intervene within each show. From my lounge to yours, I vow to share this with you throughout 2018, with a 10 episode season.
