Story
Premier Inn have submitted plans to build a 63 bedroom (160 bed) hotel in the tiny city of St Davids, Pembrokeshire. We are fighting their plans.
People have already generously given £945 towards our target of £5000 but the planning application has now been submitted and we need to raise more towards this funding amount.
This hotel development irreversibly threatens the unique nature of this beautiful place; we want to protect it and save existing jobs, independent shops and local accommodation providers. The lack of big commercial brands is one of the things that makes St Davids so special.
We don't believe a fully lit, 3-storey, generic hotel will provide a fitting gateway to this historic and spiritual city.
We are raising money to fund professional planning advice and support, to help us challenge the application.

6 years agoOn behalf of the 5,637 people who signed the petition, the 300 people who attended the Public Meeting last year & the 78% of Pre-Application Consultation comments from local residents & businesses, we have submitted our objection. Weeks of work, with the support of our planning consultant & other experts (thanks to your generous donations), has produced a detailed, evidence based set of documents, clearly showing why the hotel aspect of the proposal should not be given approval. A BIG thank you to everyone who has donated to the campaign.

Premier Inn is a very successful national brand but completely inappropriate for Britain’s smallest City and would provide the wrong image for arriving visitors to St David’s.

Premier Inn and affordable housing are two entirely different issues, as is the swimming pool. Premier Inn notoriously ship in all their services - are slick and underhand in what they promise locals
