Story
NSG needs your help to turn the entrance to Norfolk Square Gardens into a lovely setting for the 'Waves of Compassion', a major new art work by Steve Geliot, repurposing the bronze dolphins from the Victoria Fountain in a new configuration on the theme of compassion. To ensure a fitting setting for the sculpture, we will install handsome metal planters, filled with lush greenery, & create a new flowerbed with striking drought-tolerant plants, framing the sculpture from the Gardens. We are raising funds to buy planters, soil & lovely plants! NSG is also planning a sign about the history of the Square, the dolphins & the sculpture.
Contribute £10 to buy a small plant or £25 for a more mature shrub. A pledge of £150 buys one of the fabulous planters that will transform the piazza area. Whatever you contribute, your generosity will go a long way to making the top of the Gardens a really spectacular place for the whole community!
Are you a local business who’d like to be associated with the installation of ‘Waves of Compassion’? Sponsors for the improvement & planting works will be acknowledged on the information sign. Contact: NorfolkSquareGardens@gmail.com for details.

3 years agoIt’s finished! The last major planting session took place last weekend, establishing the new sunny dry bed with a permanent planting scheme which will frame “Waves of Compassion” from within the gardens. Everyone involved with Norfolk Square Gardens is so grateful to all our sponsors and donors who have helped us achieve our goal of making the gardens and the area around the sculpture a beautiful and fitting home for it. Thank you all – and when you can, come and see the results of your generosity!

3 years agoVolunteers, have now planted the troughs and planters around the sculpture, and although there’s more to do (fixing wire for the climbing plants, permanent signage about the Square and the Sculpture, and adding a few plants which will benefit from October planting), the planters already look terrific. All these plants and planters were purchased with money raised from your donations through this site – thank you so much to everyone who has helped.
