Weʼve raised £545 to buy a commercial fridge for parents of very sick children in hospital
- Funded on Saturday, 25th August 2018

Story
On E floor of Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham is a parents room with an old unsafe fridge, a microwave, washing machine and tumble dryer in constant use.
Parents using this space have children who can be very sick and it is somewhere they can keep and cook a quick microwave meal and grab a bite to eat whilst being by their child's bedside. As you can see by the photo above the current fridge needs a chair to keep the door closed and is unsafe so we are fundraising to replace this with a new low cost commercial fridge. The model we have found is a Polar CD 612 at a cost of £476.39 inc VAT. If the target is exceeded we will look at any additional money being used within this space to make the parent/carers time in hospital easier.

6 years agoAfter just 4 days of starting the fundraising we have got to 89% of the target thanks so much to very kind people who know what it is like to have a sense of normality when you are at your lowest. We would also like to thank those of you who have sent good wishes but can't afford to help this cause. Everyone is in different circumstances so please don't stretch yourself to donate if you need it yourself. With just 11% left to go I hope to be in a position to order the fridge in the next few days.

As you know Andy, we spent 3 years with Daniel as an in-patient on PICU at the QMC. I have no doubt at all that we used this fridge on more than one occasion so happy to support you :-)

Happy to help. Conscious of all the parents I've met in our organisation (SBCC)who have had to be accommodated whilst their children are helped.
