Thanks for visiting my JustGiving Page I really appreciate you!
We're raising £20,000 to deliver a social empowerment programme to transform the lives of impoverished youths in Port Loko, Sierra Leone, a community greatly affected by the Ebola crisis.
I am passionate about seeing communities developed, youth envisioned and equipped with skills for now and the future.
I have been working in Sierra Leone since April 2012. During my first visit, I started active community and missionary work in Port Loko, Masiaka and Mafoki under the leadership and support of Joseph Boadu and Christian Life Ministries.
The needs I see are unemployment, illiteracy, inadequate educational system and under utilisation of natural resources.
I aim to address this by setting up the following projects:
Women Empowerment, Youth Envisioning, Information Computer Technology project, Agricultural program (growing crops and poultry farming), Child sponsorship, Adult education, Library to enhance reading etc .
The work I have done thus far includes a child sponsorship initiative, Mustard seed project (Women in business), Leadership Summits, Bible training school, Computer training, supporting individuals with health related issues, donations of cloths and foodstuff to Churches, hospitals and orphanages during the Ebola and mudslide crises.
In order to have a bigger impact and to make the work there more sustainable, I would like to go to Sierra Leone and live there for 2 years to further embed the projects I am doing as well as partner with grassroot organisations and capacity build them.
The money you donate will go towards...
Travel expenses for the relocation, accommodation, transportation, food, health care etc.
How will the project solve the problem?
The Project will solve the problem by providing a range of interventions in the form of basic literary sessions, IT workshops, mentoring, coaching, leadership sessions, business skills workshops and grant funding. There will also be sessions that examine, identity, self esteem, goal setting, purpose and destiny. These interventions will give the participants the tools needed to become active citizens in society. Where once they lived in poverty or faced depression due to losing family members as a result of Ebola, they would now be able to receive the encouragement and skills needed to progress in life, making a positive contribution to their community. I have done similar work in Ghana and seen the difference it makes in people lives.
What is the long-term impact of the project?
The Programme will impact the entire community as the older generation will be empowered, given a new sense of dignity and self worth enabling them to be role models in their community. The youths, who are the future leaders of Port Loko will be Inspired and Empowered and equipped with life changing skills.
The Literacy programme will enable the beneficiaries to continue their education.
The Entrepreneurial programme will enable the beneficiaries to set up micro businesses.
The Agricultural programme will enable the beneficiaries to develop the natural resources in the local community.
Any support you can give would be an amazing help for the youth and the disadvantaged. I am also happy if you or any organisation out there would like to partner with me during the exciting journey to see these initiatives become a reality and lives transformed eternally.
Many thanks .
