Jonny and I are doing the Wacky Rally - Nutty to Nice 2019!

We'll be driving through at least 7 countries in 7 days covering over 2500 miles in a car worth £400. I'm not sure what is going to be worse, the endless driving, or 7 days in a car together!

We both love cars and love to travel and thought that this would be a great way for us to enjoy ourselves whilst also raising money for a great cause. We are raising money for the Howgill Family Centre.

The Howgill Family Centre is a charity based in West Cumbria, They currently employ over 60 staff and 40 volunteers delivering service. Howgill Family Centre started with a group of parents who got together to provide pre-school activities for children up to age five in a building on Howgill Street.

They now provide education, skills, health, and social care services for children and their families across West Cumbria. From practical support to therapeutic intervention, Howgill is here to help.

One key piece of work they do is the Harry Hedgehog’s Time To Share Bereavement Group which is:

An 8 week course offering support to children and parent/carers who have experienced the death of a significant person in their lives. This is most often a parent and there are unfortunately an increasing amount of deaths by suicide.

So the need continues within the Copeland area for children to be listened to and for their thoughts and feelings to be considered leading on to new developments. Providing therapeutic activities. In an atmosphere of acceptance and allowance. Where each person is respected as an individual, and their experiences and memories are valued.

With the money donated we can organise trips away with families who have attended over the last 10+ years or who we have met along the way. Giving them opportunities to network with others. To know that they are not on their own and spend a fun day together, building new memories. Some families would not be able to afford this on their own as their financial circumstances are often affected.
