    Story

Help Mahoney Take a Walk in The Park

Mahoney is one of the many dogs who enjoyed his daily walk in Oakwood Park playing fields (the only large green space in west Maidstone) until the playing fields were fenced off a year ago by Oakwood Park Grammar and St Augustine Academy, the two schools sharing the site. Oakwood Park Community Group is spearheading a project to restore access for Mahoney and the local community to these much-loved playing fields. To do this we want to create a fenced area with a natural hedge to encourage wildlife along the entire border.

The schools support our project and whilst we have successfully negotiated access outside of school hours we still need to raise £4,200 to provide a special, safe dog walking “lane” along the perimeter of the park beyond the school sports pitches.

Prior to 2017 the local community had unchallenged access and we hope that this solution will enable local children, young people, families and elders to once more enjoy the beautiful parkland for recreation, dog walking, exercise, family picnics and bicycle riding outside of school hours.

    Any donation is much appreciated.

    Thank you.

Well done to everyone for their efforts, we are looking forward to being able to enjoy this fantastic facility again... along with Ivy the Frenchie (who looks very sadly through the bars everyday)
