Weʼre raising £40,000 to help my son who lost his entire life savings online gambling due to his severe Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

On 7th June 2018 my son lost his entire life savings of £40,000 on online gambling sites, the majority of this in under two hours... the companies in question are point blank refusing to refund anything as they do not feel they were responsible. I was on the understanding that gambling should be ”safe and fun” and I am sure responsible gambling meaures failed considerably here. This is especially considering my son was very ill with Obsessive Complusive Disorder. A whole family’s life has been destroyed not just my son’s life.
My wife and my son‘s mother suffers from advanced early onset dementia and I am her full-time carer. My son's birthday was actually on 7th June and he spent it with my wife and myself. It was a good day until distressingly around 11pm by wife lost control of her bowels and left loose faeces all over the floor. The worst thing in regards to my son was that she touched all his opened presents and spread faeces all over them. As contamination is a big issue with my son's OCD I'm sure you can imagine how he reacted to it. After he had multiple showers I thought he'd gone to bed, but in fact he was manically betting on many online casinos, I believe to try and block the incident with his mother out of his mind.
Ovbiously my son is extreamly depressed, anxious and is feeling incredibly guilty for the stress he’s caused to our family. He is getting support for his mental health through the NHS and is currently waiting for high priority Cognative Behavourial Therapy. However, he currently has a bank balance of just 23p after losing his job (also contributed to his OCD). I have been financially supporting him for the last month but am starting to struggle myself, due to high costs associated with my wife’s dementia care.
Therefore I am reaching out to anyone that feels they could help my family recover from this terrible incident and give us the best quality of life moving foward and allow my son to recover and have a future. I hope maybe there could be some previous people effected by irresonsible gambling and mental health who have recovered and want to help someone to do the same thing.
I more than happy to provide any medical documentation of my son’s and wife’s condition and financial proof of my son’s losses. Please contact me for futher information.
Many thanks for reading and really hope you can help, however small the donation made.
