    Story

My brother-in-law in Madagascar almost drowned this weekend after getting cramp whilst swimming on the beach in his home town, Fort Dauphin. He was found by fisherman and rescued but is paralysed from the neck down after fracturing a vertebrae. We have evacuated him to the capital Antananarivo where he is receiving treatment and we are hopeful he may gain back some use of his limbs but it is very early days. We have used all our funds to pay for evacuation, physiotherapy, scans and medicine. We are starting to think longer-term about ways to continue his treatment as it is likely to be a long haul. If you would like to donate Micka, I, Odilon and his family are eternally grateful. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts Sarah and Micka

Hi Everyone, thanks again for donating to help Odilon. He is doing really well and making great progress and can now wiggle his fingers - which is amazing. We are going to have to close this page so that we can access the funds and send them to Madagascar. I will open another page so people can still keep up with his progress.

Odilon is progressing well. He has a positive mind-set which is great and is using his sessions in physio to vent any frustrations. The physiotherapists have started working with him to sit which is incredible at only three weeks post-accident. We are even more encouraged that he will regain feeling in his arms. Thank you for all your kind comments and support.

Thank you to everyone that has supported Odilon, it means so much to Micka, I and his family. We have some great news to report, on Sunday Mamy, Micka's sister who lives in the capital, Antananarivo and visits him daily, brings him food and feeds him told us that he could wiggle his feet, Then yesterday, Bank holiday Monday she says he has feeling and small movement up to his hips. The Drs said that because he is fit his recovery so far has been exceptionally fast. We have great encouragement that feeling & movement in his arms will follow!
