In memory of my beloved Dad, and to raise money for the Oncology ward at the Leicester Royal Infirmary, I am going to swim 2.5km. My dad really enjoyed swimming so this seems the perfect way to raise money for the hospital where he was treated.

With an initial target of £500, I hope to raise enough for the ward to buy a new wheelchair to take inpatients down from their wards for radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatments. The wards are stretched, and of course these chairs will always be a necessity.

I would also like to purchase a TV for one of the retreat rooms in the ward - just a small home comfort for the patients staying in wards 39/40. The remainder of funds raised will go directly to the LRI cancer care trust.
