Story
Harry has taken on the challenge of walking up Snowdon. Snowdon is the highest mountain in Wales, at an elevation of 1,085 metres above sea level, and the highest point in the British Isles outside the Scottish Highlands. This is an incredibly hard challenge to take on for an adult, so for a 10 year old boy and his pal Bailey, our lovely cockapoo, it really is going to be tough. The reason he is doing this is for the legend that is Debbie Smith. Someone that has been part of my life for over 20 years, Kenny's since the heydays of Chillisauce and someone who has been a big part of Harry's life since the day he was born.
Debbie was faced with the devastating news just before Christmas 2017 that she had a glioblastoma multiforme tumour, an extremely aggressive form of brain cancer. Following immediate surgery to remove the tumour, Debbie is now coming to the end of her initial 6 week course of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, set to be followed with a six month course of chemotherapy. She is also proactively exploring new therapies, treatments, trials, diets and pill after pill after pill in order to have the maximum amount of time she can with her two young daughters. The process is not a cheap one though and everyone that knows Debbie is rallying round to fundraise and help any way we can. Hence this challenge that Harry will be taking on (with me and Kenny in tow). He will be tackling Snowdon on Saturday 19th May.
"I am very nervous but excited about walking up Snowdon with Bailey. I'm doing this challenge to raise money for Debbie's treatment because she is funny and without Debbie I wouldn't exist because she introduced my Mum and Dad." Harry
Any donations would be greatly received! Thank you.
