We are a National Citizen Service (NCS) team who are currently working on a social action project in order to raise money and awareness for two different charities. The project we are taking part in is a sponsored Flash Mob in Durham Market Square for One Punch NE and East Durham Trust. One Punch NE is a charity that educates people on street violence and how these 'one punch' situations can leave someone severely disabled for life or even kill them. Maxine (the founder of the charity), who also lost her son due to a one punch attack, will also be working with us in order to make people aware of the charity and to raise as much money as possible. The money that we raise will go towards publishing a children's book they have wrote in order to educate youths in a way they will understand. East Durham Trust is a charity that provides services such as: foodbanks, workshops on mental health, volunteering and generally helping those in need. The money we raise will go towards helping young people with mental health. We believe that by raising money for these charities we will make our community a more comforting place for people to live in. These charities are close to our hearts and we are hoping to raise as much money and awareness as possible to the public and any donations and support we receive will be greatly appreciated.
