    Story

Katakwi is a district in eastern Uganda, whenever you say “Katakwi” everyone looks at you in shock and awe. It’s a district known for insurgencies perpetuated by the Karamoja people and the Lords Resistant Army under Joseph Kony years back. Its known for its high poverty rates, high teenage pregnancies, school drop outs, child marriages, poor education systems and gender based violence. I might not be able to change everything but l believe in the power of collective efforts.

I’ve only been in Uganda for 4 weeks and each day as l walk to work l meet amazing children walking to school. Now what touches me the most is these kids walk to school barefooted and some have to walk a distance of 5km to get there. We are now in our rainy season, and these children still have to make it to school in time. Because of their socio-economic backgrounds most families have no money to buy shoes for their children. I want to make these kids journey to school less gruesome by getting them a pair of shoes. A good shoe will cost round about UGX50000 which is about $13. And l am confident that collectively we will be able to give these children a pair of shoes and contributing to their access to education.

Thank you in advance for giving children in Apuuton Primary School a pair of shoes in this cold rainy season!!
