WHY DO I WANT TO BE ELECTED INTO THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES?

Over time I have been unhappy about the way we from Ethiope Federal Constituency have been represented in the House of Representatives. The voice of the common people are not being heard in the House of Representatives because no appropriate laws have being proposed by our representatives that will directly positively affect our everyday life. Indiscriminate killings, destruction of our farms and raping of women which is caused by herdsmen have been on the rise in Ethiope Federal Constituency. I have written several articles to propose anti-grazing bill in the national assembly by our representatives but no action hence I decided to run for the office of the House of Representatives to privately sponsor the dreaded anti-grazing bill when given the opportunity to serve. Also the rise in poverty in our land is alarming and no appropriate laws are put in place that will actually transform the lives of the common people.

WHAT MY REPRESENTATION AIM TO ACHIEVE

Politicians are problem solvers in the society. Our decisions while in office affect the people positively or negatively so a good leader is paramount to the better life of the populace. The following are the things my representation aim to achieve if given the mandate to serve

(a) PROPOSE ANTI-GRAZING BILL

I come from a humble background where my parents and members of my family have been involve in farming in one way or the other so protecting the lives , crops and property of farmers is of utmost priority to me. The Anti-grazing bill will help to prohibit indiscriminate grazing by herdsmen thereby destroying crops of farmers that often result to conflict and death will be avoided. The bill will stipulate that all animals must be kept in ranches and any violation the culprit and accomplice will be imprisoned without option to pay fine. This bill if it becomes law will go a long way to alleviate the killings and violence in our society.

(b) IMPROVE POWER SUPPLY BY PROPOSING A 10 YEARS TAX HOLIDAY BILL TO GREEN ENERGY COMPANIES THAT ARE WILLING TO GENERATE AND DISTRIBUTE POWER

I was a young boy when our power supply in Nigeria is poor and it is because of monopoly the companies that generate and distribute power behave the way they do .The power sector need to be opened up for new ways of generating power. A company that generates power via solar, windmill, food waste and other form of green energy will be exempted from paying tax for ten years if the bill becomes law. This kind of bill will encourage investment, create more jobs for the jobless, break monopoly in the power sector which will help to improve power supply in Nigeria.

(c) PROPOSE A BILL TO ESTABLISH STATE POLICING TO INCREASE SECURITY IN THE NATION

Insecurity has been a major challenge in Ethiope Federal constituency and in Nigeria generally because of the centralisation of the police force at the centre. Most State commissioner of police only obey directives from the Inspector General of police and this tend to affect the operations of the police to act in a timely manner. State Governors are helpless in some cases because the security operatives that are supposed to obey them in securing lives and properties of the people either disobey them or act too late in an urgent situation. State Policing bill will tend to make every State of the nation be accountable for her own security internally and this will go a long way in making our locality safer.

(d) PROPOSE SOCIAL SECURITY BILL FOR UNEMPLOYED TO CLAIM BENEFIT

Being unemployed is one of the hardest situation in one’s life. In the Social Security propose bill a token will be deducted either weekly or monthly from the working class citizens into a general pool of funds which in turn will be used to pay the unemployed weekly or monthly. In so doing social tension and crime will be on the decrease. We will also propose punitive measures to punish any culprit that wants to take advantage of this bill if it becomes law and also all necessary internal controls to ensure the smooth operations of the unemployed benefit system will be put in place as well

(e) PROPOSE ANTI-POLLUTION BILL TO CURB THE EXCESSES OF MULTINATIONALS DURING OIL EXPLORATION

We are among the oil producing areas in Nigeria where oil exploration takes place but we don’t have adequate laws to make the multinationals operate their exploration to recognised international standard thus during oil spillage from their operations they can’t be compelled legally to clean-up the areas and pay the necessary compensations. Despite their oil spillage which result in water and land pollution, they are still causing air pollution from their operations by flaring gases. Anti-pollution bill will help to curb all types of pollution and make our environment safer and cleaner.

(f) ENCOURAGE SPORTS

Sports generate a huge income for individuals, families, people and nations if nurtured properly . We have talented sports people who have the passion for various kinds of sports but can't excel because of the situation they find themselves. We will encourage those individuals in anyway we can and propose a law to protect our sports men and women when they represent Nigeria so that their entitlements are paid as at when due and they are properly taken care of when they are abroad representing Nigeria.

(g) PROPOSE A BILL TO INCORPORATE ENTERPRENEURSHIP STUDIES IN UNIVERSITIES

In order to face the challenges head-on it's vital that we introduce enterpreneurship into our universities so that graduate will move away from the notion of looking for job to create job for themselves and others by being an enterpreneur. This bill will create more jobs thereby reducing unemployment which will in the long-run reduce crime and social tension.

(h) OPEN TWO CONSTITUENCY OFFICES TO FOSTER INTERACTION AND EMPOWERMENT OF THE MASSES

In addition to the above, we will open two constituency offices which will be one in Ethiope West LGA and the other office in Ethiope East LGA so we can meet at regular intervals to interact with the people and give everyone feedback on things achieved and the funds for constituency projects will be judiciously used. Empowerment of the people will be done on a large scale as well.
