Story
Hi, my names Nicola. And this is my story! My pregnancy was like any other, a whirlwind of emotions upon finding out but nontheless a blessing and such an exciting milestone in my life. On the 28th August i lay in bed worrying as id not felt much movement. The next morning I rang 111 for advice, I was put through to the hospital who said to go down to be checked over ASAP. I lay on the bed waiting for the nurse to come and check for her heartbeat for what felt like hours. When she arrived and put me on the machine she searched around for a heartbeat.. nothing. She carried on searching, still nothing. Instantly I stared to panic. She went off to get her colleague to come in to see if she could find it.. once again nothing. By this point I was crying, shaking, scared. I was took into another room where a doctor had come down to scan me see if he could find the heartbeat. Much to my devastation he couldn't they rescanned to confirm and check for any obvious signs as to why it had happened. There was none. In that moment the world around me fell down, all the dreams and plans I'd developed over the nearly 8 months I'd been pregnant had been shattered. I was 31 weeks pregnant when all this happened. My heart was broken. I was given a tablet to shut my placenta and everything else down. I was then sent home and told to come back a further 2 days later where I would go through the process of being induced for labour. The next two days felt like the worst, longest two days of my life waiting around knowing what I had to face! I made my way to the hospital with my family on the 30th August ready to meet my beautiful baby! I was put in a room called 'The butterfly room' it was absolutely lovely, and it made such a horrible tragic experience a lot easier for me and my family. I gave birth to my beautiful Isla on 1/9/16 weighing 3lb 2oz. She was beautiful and perfect in every way and now I want to raise money to help all the other butterfly babies and their families!

8 years agoWow! Thank you so much to everybody that has donated, it means so much to all of us. The difference this money will make to so many people who unfortunately have to go through what we did also. Any amount even as little as 50p will help families and people who have been through the loss of a baby. For all the butterfly babies.
