Story

I have attached the university acceptance letter and visa application. Hopefully with your help I will reach the goal of this campagin before the start of university classes in the 4th of Sep, 2017 - Zaid

.

This project is important as it is for a friend, Zaid, who lives in Gaza, Palestine; and the family of whom I have had the honour to meet. Zaid has secured a place and small scholarship at the University of Limerick for September 2017 in a masters course, Peace and Development Studies.

This course is going to help him understand the depth of politics, peace law and how to help his country develop further, a dream he has spoke about for a long time.

With most of the tuition fees now secured and sent to the university, Zaid is short by approximately £4000 which also includes his travel (flights) and first months housing (deposit and rent) fees. With the shortfall so large and time so short, this funding project is more vital now than ever before.

We have less than 20 days to secure the funds as the remaining tuition fees and travel costs are to be paid by 28/08/17 and the deposit for housing to be available before this expected date of entry (which is being pushed to 28/08/17 as his course starts on 04/09/17).

This project will help Zaid change the world of many in Palestine as he returns to advocate his learnings and help develop better policies within the relevant departments of his home country and state. There is a large shortage of fully educated young adults in Gaza due to the political and economic situation where students are unable to secure places/scholarships internationally and/or exit the land.
Therefore, the news of Zaid having secured a place at the university as well as a small
scholarship was the happiest news this year and the hurdles we now face are solely monetary. I am working very closely with Zaid on this journey and I have full faith and trust that he shall succeed in fighting for the betterment of Gaza. The success of Zaid's Masters degree will and can only help the situation there but it is not possible without the funds that are needed first.

This is where we can help make this happen for him, for Gaza, for Palestine.

Good morning all! I shall leave the words to a minimum today & hopefully the photo updates shall suffice :-). All I ask is that you continue your support and sharing of this page to help Zaid with his extra expenses (one months rent and deposit as well as a small shopping trip to see him by for the month has been covered). He is job searching as we speak whilst having commenced his studies at UL, but even then he is only allowed to work upto 20 hours a week. This page is valid throughout the year, with Zaid & I still as sole admins. Thankyou xx

The first shopping trip at Tesco (which took us much longer than anticipated) with his cheeky selfie. However, he is thankfully getting used to how things work here. The first few days spent with him has confirmed to me just how much he will InshaAllah prosper in his dream coming alive and helping change the world (in Palestine) with his education. 🙏🏽

Good afternoon all, Just to let you all know that Zaid has thankfully managed to get into Jordan since traveling from the early hours this morning. He will hopefully be catching a flight tomorrow or Thursday at the latest to Ireland where he can finally start his studies. Once again, a huge thank you to every one who has supported this journey and well done on helping someone achieve their dream. Also, please note that a very generous donor has paid the remaining tuition fees so the money collected from this fund shall be for his costs x
