Story
Almost 5 years ago now I was diagnosed with bowel cancer. After surgery and chemotherapy I had a years struggle but positivity, stubbornness and determination I somehow got through it. Cancer touches us all family, friends and with their love & support as well as the wonderful staff at Heartlands Hospital I came through it.
October the 15th marks the start of an incredible amount of running, 26 miles in total as I take on the Birmingham International Marathon. This is going to be an extremely difficult day for me but not as difficult as the young girl I'm running to raise money for.
On the 24th August 2015 when Ruby was 7 months old, our hearts were ripped apart when Ruby-Rose was diagnosed with stage 3 Neuroblastoma. A rare cancer that effects 100 children in the U.K each year.
Ruby-Rose had a large pelvic tumour that had also spread to her spine.
Ruby-Rose received treatment from the brilliant Birmingham Children's Hospital, she had 4 rounds of chemotherapy and on the 18th January 2016 Ruby spent 7 hours in theatre having her tumour removed.
Ruby is our little super hero, she has amazed us all with her bravery, strength and courage. She has smiled through the pain and faced things no one should ever have to face.
Ruby - Rose has sadly been left with permanent nerve damage in both of her feet, caused by the tumour. It is not clear at the moment if the tumour has had any permenant damage to her bladder function.
Ruby-Rose is now 2 1/2 and a very determined little girl, she has is not letting any of this get in her way, she is our little inspiration!!
Donate, click, share and spread the word please to raise as much as we can for Ruby-Rose. I'd love to smash the £500 target, i know we can do it!
