    Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

2017 leaves behind a year of memories we will all cherish. However, 2018 also brings a new year, with the unknown of what life has in store for you. So with this new year, I have decided to face my fear and throw myself out of a plane from 15,000 feet at St. Andrews, on Saturday 28th July, to raise funds for the PD Dialysis Unit at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

My mum was diagnosed with Kidney Disease 18 years ago. However, at the end of last year things took a turn for the worse. My mum landed up in the hospital at the start of this year with end stages of renal failure.

It was decided that the best way forward for mum was to start home PD Dialysis. The reality of it all hit home when the delivery of equipment came to the house and things had to be re-arrange to accommodate this massive changes.

However, with great support and care, not just to my mum but to the immediate family, from the PD Specialist Nurses and Consultants at ARI we are now feeling more hopeful to finding a Kidney Donor for mum.

The whole family has been tested to see if we are a match for my mums Kidney Donation, but unfortunately no-one is, as she is a blood group type "O" which is the universal blood group which is so ironic as mum could donate to anyone but can only receive from a blood group "O" individual. However, my Dad, Nannie and I are in the process of the Pairing Scheme which is a long and complicated process.

So, this is why I have decided to raise funds for the PD Dialysis Unit at ARI.

Thank you for taking time to read this. Any donation or contribution will be greatly appreciated.

    Many Thanks,

    Patrick :-)
