Weʼve raised £22,353 to support Pat Hardcastle launch a legal challenge to try to stop a ruinous 170 home development in Maids Moreton.

    Story

On 24th March 2022, Buckinghamshire Council signed a planning consent with David Wilson Homes and granted permission for the company to build 170 homes on land in beautiful, open countryside north of the village of Maids Moreton. The only way to stop this development from going ahead is to support me, Pat Hardcastle, in launching a Judicial Review into the Council's decision.. To do this, I need to raise £35,000 in the coming weeks. All contributions will be most welcome.

Huge thanks to the many people who have so generously supported me through this page as well as those that have done so directly and also those who have contributed through various fund-raising events and activities. The level of support to my challenge of the planning consent reflects clearly the depth of feeling here about the way in which the planning consent has been steam-rollered through, with no evidence of community engagement and despite the huge number of negative comments posted. Planning can and should be better than this.

Huge thanks to everyone who has supported me so far; it is very motivating to have such wide support from the community and more widely. There is still further to go, so please do keep up the momentum. I am on the final leg of my fundraising and need just £20 from 500 people to meet my target. To this end, I am launching my £20 Campaign' and on Saturday 11 June, I shall have a stall in the Buckingham market, talking to people about donating £20 to support the campaign. Do come along and any support you can give will be most welcome.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported me so generously so far. There is further to go but your support demonstrates clearly the depth of feeling about the decision to grant planning consent as well as reflecting the level of anger at the way residents in Maids Moreton and surrounding areas have been treated by both the Council and the developer. Neither of these felt inclined to engage with us in any meaningful way despite transparency and engagement being fundamental elements for a modern democracy.
