Story
We are attempting the 3 Peaks Challenge in order to raise money to help Paul Butler and his family!
Paul has been a Firearms officer in North Devon for 13 years and has previously served for almost 15 years in the Army and is married with two sons. Paul is a well loved colleague by us all and has recently relapsed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML).
Paul became ill in June 2016 where he was taken unwell at work, before being taken to A&E after a short visit to his GP and then later diagnosed with AML at the RD&E Hospital, Exeter.
Since this initial diagnosis, Paul has endured 5 batches of Chemo, varying from 5 to 10 days, had provided 11 Bone Marrow samples , suffered with sepsis twice, pneumonia, blood clots in his arm and chest, lost 19lbs in weight and his hair 3 times.
On the 18th August Paul suffered a relapse and was told by his consultant that his AML had returned. Paul is currently awaiting his 6th batch of Chemotherapy and donor stem cells. This will mean that Paul will have to remain in Hospital for almost 3 months until Christmas 2017.
We are trying to raise money to help Paul and his family. We would love to enable them to have some time away and for Paul to do so without any worry.
A Team of 13 officers past and present from across the Force are attempting the 3 Peaks Challenge starting at 10am on the 9th November 2017 with the hope of completing it with in 24 hours.
Please, please donate if you can and spread the word to any that you know who may want to help this amazing man.

7 years agoA message for you all from Paul and his family; "From the moment Paul was rushed to A&E on 7th June 2017 (Fi’s birthday) we have been totally overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of our wonderful friends and family. Your fantastic support last year helped keep Paul feeling positive and made a truly horrible situation a little easier to bear. When we were told Paul’s leukaemia had relapsed this August we struggled to come to terms with what was ahead of us. Yet again, your support has been out of this world......

7 years ago.......The 3 Peaks Challenge the team are taking on, all for Paul and the family, was a fantastic idea which really touched us. We feel truly humbled by your extremely generous donations and are completely blown away by the amount raised. We cannot thank you enough for your unbelievable generosity. Something we would hope to reciprocate if ever it is needed. Thank you just doesn’t seem adequate."
