Story
On 24th June 2018 I will running the Humber bridge half marathon.
On the 28th February 2017 I suffered a stroke whilst at work. Thankfully for the quick thinking and training from my colleagues I was taken to Hull royal infirmary Hospital. Doctor's discovered I had a rip in my archery in the neck and a blood clot had formed in my brain. I went under a 3 hour operation to clear the clot. From the stroke it left me with brain damage and paralysed down my right side of my body I was unable to walk or move my right arm. From the physio I received I managed to walk again after month.
I still have little feeling in my right arm and weakness in my right leg but I have decided I want to help other people who have suffered strokes. A local stroke group meet twice a week to support survivors and families who are dealing with the after effects of a stroke which can be painful and distressful for both the survivor and carer.
I didn't run before my stroke so it's a new challenge for me.
Thank you for the support .
