    Story

This is our vision.”To deliver training to vulnerable people to assist them in developing skills to improve their lives with the assistance from expertly trained dogs.”

I would like to introduce myself, I am Ann Watt and I am the founder of the Paws For Autism .I was inspired by a young boy named Cameron. Cameron is Autistic and finds communicating with the world to be stressful and at times impossible. He is a bright child who is full of energy and is devoted to his beloved dog Coco.

This devotion and love has come at a price. Not only monetary but commitment from his mother ,Cameron and the dog trainers working with Coco to ensure she is the best version she can be in order to support Cameron to become the best version of himself.

There is no current facility in Scotland than can offer supported dog training and education to a child or adult with Autism.

The local community will benefit greatly from the Dog Behavioural Centre offering its premises free of charge to families with a member who is Autistic to come along and explore the relationship with dogs that can and will enhance their quality of life.

We have surrounding land which we plan to develop into a sensory area with an enclosure for agility. The children with Autism are overwhelmed within main stream play grounds that do not contain specialist equipment to meet their specific needs. This leads to the children being unable to play safely with other children in a park just as other children do. The physiological safety for parents to know their child can run freely with their dog without fear of either the child or the dog being harmed is priceless. If you can imagine the time ,effort and cost involved in training a dog to be an Autism support dog then a dog in a park with aggression behaviour attacks it .The impact on the child would be devastating .Trust would be completely destroyed and potentially the ability to communicate with the world gone.

We need to purchase play equipment that is tailor made with Autistic children in mind. The area requires to be safe and secure therefore fencing, fencing posts, sand and hard core are all on our shopping list. Any item that you can donate or help contribute towards the purchase cost would be greatly appreciated.

We also would be indebted to anyone who has the skill set to bring this outside space to reality .We are very willing however not so able with the skill set.

In order for us to achieve this we are asking for donations from local business such as you. In return we would like to offer free advertising within our dog training and education centre .We will be hosting several events throughout the year with local and international speakers attending .There will be fun days for families ,open days and meet the trainer events .

There will be an official open day in the Spring so you would be welcomed along as a contributor and supporter of Paws For Autism.

Working collaboratively with local community ,local council and local businesses I believe Paws For Autism( currently under submission for charity status ) will give the families who are in the most need of support a unique place to experience freedom to run and play ,love, empowerment and most of all love from a dog.

If you can donate anything at all towards this venture we would be most grateful.
