    Story

In september i will be doing a sponsored cut and cutting off between 10 - 13 inches of my maine to help raise money and awareness for children suffering with alopecia.

This condition has touched our hearts over the last 4 years as i have watched one of my bestfriends struggle with supporting her 7 year old daughter as she lost over half her hair to alopecia. Along with her smile, confidence and self worth.

    This is Ava‘s story :

“We are trying to raise money for our 7 year old daughter who was diagnosed with Alopecia Areata in 2015 (aged 3) When we first noticed that Ava was losing her hair she was referred to a Dermatologist at City Hospital where she was offered a treatment called DCP Ava was the youngest child to start this topical steroid treatment, Avas immune system reacted so well to this treatment that she had 90% hair growth in 12 months, We were so happy and overwhelmed that Avas hair had grown back but to our disappointment in September we noticed that Ava had started to lose her hair again and had a new patch. Ava was then referred back and started her treatment in November however to our disappointment Ava seemed to become immune to the treatment and her hair got worse and she is losing more hair as the days go on.

we hope you can sympathise with how heartbreaking this is for us to watch, and also the impact it is having on Avas self esteem and confidence.

We have reached out to a campaign called Little Lady Locks which offers hair systems to young girls like Ava who are going through this difficult time, The hair sytems made are all hand made by using natural hair/extensions which are threaded into a net fabric and knotted. This gives the illusion of hair and scalp, then grow naturally.

The net systems/wigs can cost up to £500 depending on how big the affecting area is and also the cost with up keeping can be expensive.”

I will be donating my hair to the Little Lady Locks Campaign to help supply a wig for another child in need 🖤
