Story
A plea for volunteers went out in 2017 to help builder Pete Cross, a terminally ill Great Totham dad while undergoing his second brain surgery on a tumour. The plea was for help to allow him to live at home with wife Nic, 41, and children Amie, 15 and James, 12.
Volunteers from far and wide came together to work on the house extension, and it was an amazing show of human spirit. I visited Pete and Nic with my sister-in-law Laura Rushall three weeks ago and we noticed more volunteers were needed to help paint their house. Laura rallied a team of 11 together and we worked for a day and now their house feels more like a home.
Unfortunately Pete's life insurance paid out less than half the full amount. Now he is approaching the end and his wife desperately needs some financial help with funeral costs.
Nic said: “We have had some amazing people turn up to help us with our extension and I can’t thank them enough."
“We are quite proud people. We are not ones to normally ask for help, in fact we are usually the ones helping others."
“I am just not sure what other options we have."
Laura and I and all who have volunteered would tell you how amazing this family is, life can be cruel sometimes. Please donate any amount you can so Nic can give Pete the funeral the family deserve.
