    Story

This year I decided to enter the inaugural Stirling Marathon which coincidently will also be my FIRST and perhaps last Marathon too. To mark the occasion and to give me focus to get round, I have decided to run for a cause.
My niece Caitlin last year joined the St Margaret's of Scotland Youth Group. This organisation for over 20 years has answered the call of Our Lady and gone to Lourdes to work with the sick pilgrims on the Glasgow archdiocesan pilgrimage. Each year over 60 young people give up their summer holiday to work in the hospitals, to get out of bed early, to push wheelchairs, pull ‘voitures’ and assist the elderly and the infirmed. They have come for many reasons, but all of them have an overwhelming desire to do some good. In addition their lives have been enriched by the experience too. They learn much about dignity, respect and courage from those they come into contact with during the pilgrimage. They are not saints, just committed young people who want to help others by giving their best. But moreover they have to pay for the experience. It costs £650 for each youth group member to make the trip to Lourdes. The organisation undertakes a series of fundraising activities through the year to enable them to pay for the guests, and pay something towards the volunteers fees, but it can't pay it all. I'm hoping with your generosity I can raise some funds that will go towards the fees these young people need to pay/raise in order for them to continue doing a valuable and worthwhile role.

Well I only went and done it. Took me 4hrs 37mins 27secs. Buzzing ever since. Legs r achy n shaky today, but they'll ease as the week progresses ( I hope). Thank you to everyone who sponsored me either through this page or by cash. Without your support and belief in me I might never have made it to the start line. Had a brilliant day. Supporters where out in droves across all of Stirlingshire, cheering and willing everyone to the finish. An amazing experience. Jx

Hi. Busy weekend. First I had 6, 8/9 yr old guests stay over ( belated Birthday treat), then I had to fit in a 10 mile run. Wee bit hotter than I'm used to but managed it all the same. Just over 1hr n 1/2. Although think my watch stops when I do so might need to add a wee bit extra on lol. Home quick shower n back out again to the SMSYG Annual Charity Dinner Dance. Brilliant night raising funds to take the sick / infirm to Lourdes. An amazing £31,000 raised on the night. Just needing to catch up on sleep now. Jx
