Epilepsy can affect anyone at any age. Approximately 600,000 people live with Epilepsy in the UK with over 80 people diagnosed with Epilepsy everyday. This can be devastating and bewildering for those people who are newly diagnosed. Those people living longer term often having to make major changes to their life style, as Epilepsy can cause major changes to both mental and physical health.

Epilepsy Berkshire is a small charity that has been set up to help people who are recently diagnosed and for those who have lived with Epilepsy for much longer. Our small but dedicated team of volunteers arrange (in normal times) venues for people living with Epilepsy and their carers, to meet in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Arranging (in normal times) other leisure activities that our members can enjoy knowing that they will be supported and looked after should any seizure occur. We also pass on relevant information and guidance where appropriate to our members.

During the past year during the Covid restrictions our volunteers have been running Zoom meetings once a week as a means of keeping in touch and showing support to all that have joined in during this very difficult time. We hope to be able to return very soon to normal meetings and leisure activities, whilst educating more people about Epilepsy and its effects.

We are supported by the Royal Berkshire Hospital's Epilepsy Nurse, who is on hand to give help and advice and can be contacted through our website.
