In June 2017 I will be making my way to Fiji where I will stay for one month in some of the most rural and poorest areas. During this time I will be living with a Fijian family, experiencing their unique culture, customs and the tropical landscape.
In rural Fiji there is limited access to education, youth and sports activities and schools are devoid of basic resources. Many families in these remote villages struggle to meet their daily needs and less than 50% of people have access to proper sanitation and fresh water.
My trip to Fiji will allow me to make a real difference by supporting children living in the poorest island villages. This project involves working with children in kindergarten and school where we can offer vital classroom support and organise one to one tuition as well as offering extra curricular such as teaching dance, drama, arts, singing and so much more. This project uses education and sport to build confidence and self esteem, improve literacy, empower teachers and uplift children out of hardship, whilst providing resources to the children. An opportunity like this is something I will grab with both hands to give it my all, creating memories and friendships that will last a life time.
