Insp Bhakta from Leicestershire Police will be running the 10k Scorpion mud run in aid of Caitlin Turner.

Caitlin was premature, born at 27 weeks. As a result suffered viral meningitis, which lead to her contracting hydrocephalus, meaning that her brain produces too much fluid and is unable to get rid of it naturally. As a result she has a shunt fitted which basically means that the fluid is disposed of via a plastic valve an tubing which at present runs from her brain to her lungs or heart. These shunts are very prone to failure. She also had detached retinas which required emergency surgery. Due to these long term problems. Caitlin has difficulty with her balance, fine motor skills, sight and regular failure of the shunt.

Caitlin wants a trike for Christmas, unfortunately due to her condition she requires a specialist trike which costs around £800. We would like to get Caitlin this trike for Christmas.

Insp Bhakta will go through some challenging obstacles, mud, water and an air soft battle zone over a distance of 10k. She will freely admit that she is not looking forward to it but is determined to complete the course for Caitlin.
