    Story

Hi, I'm Philip a 35 year old guy who is looking to raise funds for "Contact”, this is a self-funding Mental Health Charity based in Morpeth. The funds will go to the centre who support members (service users) whether that be a trip out for the day, craft supply's, or simply a cupper and time with a councillor

I have been a member of contact since September 2017. I can honestly say with my hand on my heart that I owe my life Contact and a close friend who introduced me to the charity.

Over the years I have suffered from Anorexia, Bulimia, Self-Halm, Low Self-Esteem and have attempted to commit suicide three times. I have recently come to accept that Mental Health Illnesses are non-discriminatory, regardless of Age, Gender, Race, Religion or Sexual orientation, it can affect anyone, anywhere and at any time in your life

Following the death of my mother in 2017 to Pulmonary Fibrosis / Lung Cancer, a breakdown in a relationship and home relocation all in a 3 week period this caused a massive change in my mental well-being / emotional stability which intern caused me to use all of my coping mechanisms (bad habits) just to get through the day, "Contact" has been a major part of my life, I am no way 100% better, however I am on my way to recovery and continue to be supported by the charity

At contact we all share one thing in common, what you may ask ....."Mental Well-being, regardless of what is going on for any individual that uses the centre we are all their to support each other, chat, spend time with likeminded people who are all suffering in one shape or another.

During my darkest days “Contact” was my safe place. A place that I could go to where I would not be left alone with my own destructive thoughts. It was also a way that my friends and family got some rest bite from “Me”, as silly as that sounds they would know where I was, the support I was getting which allowed them to deal with things going on in their lives without the worry thinking "is philip safe"

    What your Gift Could Provide

    £10 -Pays for a half-hour therapy session

£30-Pays for an hour and a half of tutor fees

£100 - Pays for training for approximately four volunteers

Please take a moment to look at the image below, have you or do you know anyone that has any of the following characteristics, if so please take a moment to think how a centre like "Contact" could have assisted, it is a self-funding organisation that relies on charity donations, without donations the centre would not be Here, without the Centre I would not be Here!!!

Thank you for taking the time to read my story and I do hope that you are able to give a donation

    * Please look out on the updates section on this page, i will be doing several events to raise money as a way of giving back to a fantastic, friendly organization.
