RNLI crews and lifeguards have saved over 142,200 lives since 1824. The RNLI is principally funded by donations and most of the members of the lifeboat crews are unpaid volunteers. This year they are building a new life boat, Shannon’s Hull. In honour of loved ones who have passed away they are displaying up to 10,000 names on the lifeboat to be there with the crews every time they save a life at sea. I am doing a sponsored walk from St Ive’s to Lands End with my dog Eddie, to raise enough money to get Corey’s name displayed on Shannon’s Hull and to give a general donation to the RNLI.

For those who don’t know Corey, he was a young lad who sadly was taken away from us far too soon, due to an unsuspected brain bleed, in March 2018. He was selfless and would off done anything for anyone. There was never a dull moment when Corey was around, and his famous words were ‘happy days’. Getting his name displayed on the new lifeboat will be a great way to ensure his name lives on whilst the RNLI continue to do the amazing work they do.
