£340raised of £2,000 target by 18 supporters

Weʼve raised £340 to raise funds to renew/replace equipment for all ages at Coven's badly run down children's playground.

Funded on Thursday, 1st December 2016

    What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

We are appealing for help to meet our wish to bring Coven's facilities for children and young people in line with other parks within the parish. Our current park is estimated to be approx. 20yrs old and is in urgent need of updating. We hope to retain and refurbish 50% of the current equipment, which caters for under 5's, and replace the old and worn wooden assault course, tyre climbing frame and the decommissioned zip wire with new and up to date equipment catering for older children.

This really is a community project, earlier this year we carried out a leaflet drop in the form of a questionnaire. The questionnaire provided us with our demographic, current usage figures for the playing field, ratings of existing equipment for different age groups, wish list of play equipment, general comments and the opportunity for individuals to put themselves forward as volunteers. This gave the entire community the opportunity to provide comments and really get involved in the project. The results have been compiled and we have used this information to approach approved suppliers and obtain quotes, circa £66K - £120K. We held a public exhibition on Wednesday 20th July at Coven's Memorial Hall and invited residents to view the supplier's plans and comment, provide 'likes/dislikes' of existing equipment to confirm which pieces to retain, provide fundraising ideas and chance to volunteer on the project. We also held a 'My Dream Competition' in the local school to raise awareness of the project and ask children to comment on what they want in their park. We are in the process of applying for grants and planning future fundraising. We hope to complete the refurbishment and replacement of equipment ready for a grand opening in the summer of 2017.
In addition, Rt. Hon. Gavin Williamson MP is visiting Coven park on Thursday 4th August to raise awareness of our project and show his support.
Thank you in advance for any support you can give,
    The Coven Playground Committee.
