Weʼve raised £550 to renovate the chicken coop at St Patrick's School

Funded on Tuesday, 3rd April 2018

Don't have time to donate right now?

    Story

    Hi friends and family,

As you may know we have been in Kenya, Makueni County, working at St Patrick’s school for disabled children.

The school is very underfunded and under-developed. Therefore, as VSO volunteers we would love to set up a sustainable income for the school through the means of poultry.

The school currently has three chickens. Our idea is to renovate their currently derelict chicken coop and increase their amount of chickens. This would mean they have eggs to eat and chickens to breed to eventually sell on.

As they have very little funding we don’t have the means of achieving this goal. Therefore we humbly ask for your donations and support.

£3 could buy us a chicken; we would also use the money to buy materials to renovate the coop. We plan to invite the community to assist us in the rebuilding of the coop and we would really appreciate any support you could give.

Any money left over from our poultry project would be spent on pens, pencils and basic stationary for the children, as they currently don’t have these.

Thank you very much for your on-going support,

Bryony, Briana, Rose, Jordan and the staff and students at St Patricks School

Thankyou SO much to everyone who has donated! We’ve purchased the building materials for the coop, the chicken feed, vaccinations & the chickens! The chickens arrive tomorrow when we will hold an event at the school for the community. There will be a big opening & role models with disabilities will come and give inspiring talks to encourage the children & show them that anything is possible. We will teach the children on poultry, so that they have the skills to continue poultry keeping later in life. Thanks again, love the St Patricks team x
