Hello, We are an India-based non-profit organisation- working out from a rather small city called Nagpur in the state of Maharashtra. We have been in the field of working with individuals with special intellectual needs, especially with regard to their employment, legislative rights, life-skills training, and self-empowerment and esteem. As we are working in a small city which has negligible resources and awareness for such work- clubbed with the fact that we have developed newer projects in the last few months, we are currently in the need of funds and other forms of aid. In particular, we have collaborated with a national daily 'The Times of India' to document and promote (through advertisements, banners, logistical aid, etc) our recent upcoming panel discussion on World Autism Day; the panel discussion will be on the theme of children with special intellectual needs in educational settings, and will involve the parents, educational authorities and psychiatrists who might be able to bring in different opinions and experiences of the individuals involved. We are also actively encouraging individuals with special intellectual needs themselves to participate in the panel, so that they can rightfully contribute with their lived experiences to an event which has been designed to discuss their lives. The daily has agreed to collaborate and fund the event partially, but to actually make this event happen- we need help of kind and understanding citizens like you who would be willing to contribute how-much-ever possible to get the event rolling. The funds you will donate shall go towards the daily (The Times of India) as their fee to have collaborated with us. Without your aid and without the collaboration with the daily, this event mayn't ever be birthed- and hence we request everyone who has read this story to kindly donate and support our aim to create a society which stops marginalizing the needs and lives of those who don't fit its ideas of perfection.
