Weʼve raised £1,150 to Run the Greek Marathon (13th Nov) in Firefighting kit, carrying a 25m length of hose, raising money for some important charities.

Funded on Tuesday, 6th December 2022

    Story

First up is the Firefighters Charity, they‘ll receive 50%. The work they do is so important and ultimately, at some point, we ourselves will likely need help of some kind from this amazing charity, their website explains them best, “We exist to support the mental, physical and social needs of all serving and retired members of the UK's firefighting family”.

Next up is Hope for children, who will be getting 25%. “Hope for children creates opportunities for overlooked, vulnerable and exploited children living in extreme poverty. Currently our work focuses on five countries - Uganda, Sri Lanka, India, Kenya and the UK, working with local people to create sustainable solutions”.

Last but certainly not least, the Curtis Palmer Program, who will receive 25%. The work they have done with emergency service personnel is incredible, they rely on donations from events like this. Their focus is on helping serving and retired Police Officers and Staff with physical injury, illness and mental health wellbeing. They have also helped with Firefighters and Military personnel in similar situations.

Normally you can just set up a charity page but as ours is to be split 3 ways, this was the only way to do it.

We’re going to keep the page open until the first week of December, I’ve had a few people ask to hold on till then. I’ll post again once it’s time to close. Thanks.

Just a message to say thank you to everyone who has donated, it turned out to be the hottest Marathon they’ve had in ages, which you could definitely feel in the kit! Your contributions will make their way to the charities over the next week or so, I’ll post an update once it’s all done! Thank you.
