Project RECCE - Pathways Into Construction for Service Leavers and Veterans

To donate to our cause, simply click ‘Give Now’ at the top right-hand side of this page. If you are coordinating team activities, share the link to this page and ask people to reference your activity when making a donation.

By supporting our programme, you are helping both those who are ready to go and just need a door opening as well as those who perhaps have more of a journey to take. Those who have served our country so bravely but have been negatively impacted by the experience. We are very grateful for any fund raising you are able to do but equally important is your support as a mentor, as a speaker on our course or as someone who can offer a work trial. If you'd like more information please email Loz Moore on LM@projectrecce.org

The team at Project RECCE have helped me so much. It's not just a course, it's a community of people just like me who have served our nation and for whatever reason have left the military. They've figured out a great way to move from A - B and are sharing that with all of us. I feel confident, capable and ready for my new career in the construction industry.

Project RECCE has a simple mission:

To enable service leavers to gain sustainable full-time employment within the construction industry in order to support veteran transition and reduce construction skills shortage.

Based on lived experience and a set of shared core values, the team at Project RECCE has been able to develop a holistic programme which supports a successful transition from the military into the construction industry as well as replacing the sense of camaraderie which is a cornerstone of military life. Since inception, Project RECCE has grown from a small grass-roots initiative into a national programme which supports ex-military across the UK as well as overseas.

Through an extensive network across the armed forces community as well as the construction industry, the programme is able to recruit, prepare and deliver individuals into new careers across all sectors of the construction industry with efficiency.

    Pathways Into Construction

By understanding the challenges faced by service leavers and veterans, Project RECCE has been able to successfully create and prove its unique model which sees students pass through a three-phase programme which has shown to be resilient to the challenges of COVID-19 with a 71% success-rate of graduates entering sustainable careers in the construction industry.

Phase 1 - A 2-week online course which helps the student understand who they are, where they are and where they are trying to go. By looking at topics from positive mindset to planning and effective communications, we are able to provide all the tools required to seize opportunities. Coupled with industry insights, Health and Safety training and a CSCS card, we are able to provide everything to move onto Phase 2.

Phase 2 - Work trials and further training across the UK are offered to our students by our wide range of construction partners and offer an opportunity for both parties to interact and understand what is on offer. As these work trials are tailored to the students transferable skills and aspirations, it's likely that it will be a suitable match and many are offered roles at this point.

Phase 3 - However if that does not occur, students will be offered an industry mentor to help prepare for the right roles and move forward. If any students are not quite work ready or face any personal issues, they have immediate access to our in-house clinical team for counselling and coaching.

All of this is encompassed in an online peer-support community where people can support each other at the various stages of their transition as well as meet up for other activities from hill-walking to sports and even a stand-up comedy course. These extra activities are all component parts of helping an individual to become healthy, happy and able to focus on a new career.
