Wrexham Borough Council (WBC) are in the process of putting the New Local Development Plan (LDP) together. The LDP is up for consultation at the moment, which ends 31st May 2018.

WBC propose to locate a permanent Gypsy and Traveller site off Llay New Road.

As a community we should have several concerns about not only the selection process, but also the location (next to Llay Cemetary) and the irreversible environmental impact this will have on the area.

The fund has been setup to seek professional legal advice in a bid to help stop the proposal by WBC. The fund will be used for:

Legal Representation
Planning Counsultatation
Environmental Surveys
Ecology Surveys
Highways Surveys
Archiology Surveys
Historic Surveyd
Advertising and raising awareness of the proposal

For far to long have the people of Llay been dumped on by WBC and now it's time for the community to stand up and be counted! Let's show the council that they can't just do whatever they want without a fight.

Reasons for refusal:

The site is within a green barrier

The site is part of Alyn Waters Country Park

The site is classed as Special Landscaped Area

The site lies adjacent to Worms Wood a protected site

The covenant on the land specifies that the land should be used for recreational activities

Protected species that have habitats on the land I.e badgers and Bats

The extra pressure that this will put on an already struggling infrastructure.
