Story
PROTECT INKERSALL FROM COUNCIL TRAVELLER SITE
Chesterfield Borough Council has announced recently that 6 sites have been short listed for development into Council Run Traveller Sites. 2 of the proposed sites are in Inkersall. A group has been formed to fight this application on professional grounds such as Architectural Requirements, Civil / Highway Requirements and the Loss Of Amenities, Environmental and Residential Disruption can will be caused by these developments being permitted in the quiet residential village of Inkersall.
The group of residents who have taken on the task of sourcing, employing and collating all the information for presentation to Chesterfield Borough Council through Professional and Legal Representation need to raise funds from local residents and business owners who share our concerns with these Council chosen sites.
Background and facts:
The council has asked for local land owners and Derbyshire County Council to offer / provide land for Traveller sites. None have been provided, not even by our County Governing Body.
20 sites have already been rejected due to proximity to public spaces, residential properties and green area.
6 sites remain - 2 are in Inkersall. That's a 1 in 3 chance of a Traveller Site being located in our quiet village
Council web site on proposed Traveller Sites states site sizes are between 500 and 2000m2. The site at 124 Bevan Drive is clearly shown at 6059m2 on their proposed drawings.
Bevan Drive site is home to Bats, Bluebells and other protected species and a Council Report for another planning application bordering the site has demanded that a woodland preservation order is put in place by the developer.
Atlee road site is still being used by paying tenants. Removal of the garages will result in loss of amenities for the community.
Our Intentions:
Attack the proposal at consultation stage to get the sites taken out of consideration.
Approach the issues from a Legal Standpoint
Provide information and keep residents up to date via meetings, web site and social media.
PLEASE SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL VILLAGE BY MAKING A DONATION. WE HAVE OVER 3000 FOLLOWERS ON FACEBOOK. ANY DONATION IS WELCOME BUT WE WOULD LIKE A MINIMUM CONTRIBUTION OF £2.00
ALL WORK BY THE GROUP IS NOT FOR PROFIT. MONEY RAISED IS TO PAY FOR PROFESSIONAL SERVICES ONLY. ANY MONIES LEFT OVER WILL BE PUT INTO AN INKERSALL BASED CHARITY, CHURCH OR CLUB.
Please note that to keep all finances clear and above board we have picked a neutral organisation JUST GIVING to handle all donations. For this they charge a 5% handling fee which is deducted by them off the total amount raised.
