    Story

Kind-hearted employees are being asked once again to help make Christmas a special one for children and young people across the Falkirk Council area. Local families need our help in keeping the spirit of Christmas alive for their children.

In previous years, hundreds of employees handed in gifts to Council collection points but with COVID-19 restrictions in place, that won’t be possible in 2020. This year has been a challenge for us all in many ways, but we are hoping that you can help those who need extra help this Christmas.

We have created this Just Giving page and we are asking employees, their families and Elected Members to donate whatever they can to make one collective difference to so many local families.

Staff from social work services and partners in the third sector will source toys, foods and other gifts from local stores with the money collected to bring some Christmas cheer for those children and young people they know are in greatest need of support. Children like Erin (12) and Mikey (14), know there won’t be many Christmas gifts this year. Their mum explained that Santa will hopefully be bringing them clothes and shoes. Cara (7), is not convinced that Santa won’t be bringing presents this year as he always brings toys to everybody. Her mum is worried that Cara will be disappointed on Christmas morning.

Provost William Buchanan who spearheads the Appeal each year said:

Every year employees pull out the stops and help keep the spirit of Christmas alive for many local children and young people who would otherwise go without at this time of year. This year has been especially hard for everyone and giving to those giving those in need of a bit of help is in the true spirit of Christmas. I’m asking employees and Elected Members to donate to the Appeal and let’s make this a special Christmas for every child.

I would like to take a moment to thank each and every one who has donated so generously to this important appeal. This has gone way beyond my expectation. Thank you all
