    Story

On 19th October 2016, our dear Queenie Rockley passed away after fighting a tough battle with cancer.

She was mother to three children, Kenny, Les and Ray. Kenny, the eldest son, was born mentally handicapped.

Kenny and the rest of the family spent a lot of time at Cell Barnes, an amazing place built to support those with learning difficulties.

Seeing the hard work that was put into making Cell Barnes the amazing place it was, she would sell Christmas and Birthday cards, visit local companies and friends, volunteer at fetes (which the children loved) to help raise money for the hospital.

The money raised helped provide not only care but entertainment for the children.

This never stopped after Kenny passed away. She continued to donate and raise money her entire life.

All she wanted was for children with a tough start in life to smile, have fun and be given a fair chance.

Queenie's granddaughter, Dani, has worked for The Collett School in Hemel Hempstead for many years. The Collett School provides a safe and secure learning environment for children with moderate learning difficulties. This is why, as a family, we want to support their fantastic work in Queenie’s memory.

All the money raised will go to the Friends of Collett who rely on fundraising. They are currently raising money for new sensory equipment, which will not only encourage co-ordination, emotional security & social skills but also entertainment for the children. This is a huge part of their development and we know Queenie would love to help support this fund.

Queenie’s funeral will take place on Thursday 3rd November 2016, rather than giving flowers, we would greatly appreciate any donation which will help children for years to come.

Thank you for reading Queenie's story, all donations are greatly appreciated.

    With love from the Rockleys’.
