Story
We are raising money on behalf of my daughter, Rachael, who was tragically killed in June 2020.
Rachael had worked professionally as a performer from 2011 after graduating from Performers College. Due to financial struggles, Rachael was almost unable to complete her education and would have missed out on the opportunity to follow her passion had it not been for the sacrifices we made as a family, generous donations from friends and eventually, a scholarship she was awarded at the end of her first year.
Rachael wasn't the only artist to struggle, either financially or emotionally, and since her death we have heard from friends and colleagues who she helped overcome such challenges. This desire to help others wasn't limited to only those she knew and in the final months of her life, Rachael spent her time helping bring her local community together, spreading joy to those who had little to no contact with others during the lock down.
It has always been hard for people from lower income backgrounds to pursue a career in the arts. In recent years it has only been made more difficult and with the recent COVID 19 lockdown, times have never been harder for self employed artists.
We want to honour Rachael's memory by raising money to help young people break through those barriers and support artists who are struggling in the current situation. The money raised will be given to youth arts programs, performing arts charities and other organisations that can achieve this.
Please give anything you can to support this cause and help others like Rachael follow their dreams.
Thank you.

4 years agoWe'd just like to thank everyone for their kind donations to Rachael's fund. We never thought we'd raise so much and will make sure that it does as much good as possible - all in Rachael's name. We're turning off the ability to donate to this page, but if you'd still like to help people in the arts sector at this difficult time please consider donating to one of these great causes: https://www.shanklintheatre.com/donate.aspx https://arts-emergency.org https://www.actingforothers.co.uk

4 years agoWow! We've had an amazing response and just hit our £7.5k target. If we can get to £10k we can do even more for young performers, so let's give it a go. The Stratton, Sandell and Morris families send our love and thanks to everyone who has donated and shared this campaign with others. We desprately miss Rachael and are really struggling with what's happened, but your generousity and commitment to her memory is helping us at the time we need it most. We can't thank you enough, you're all superheroes xxxxxx
